On December 2, 2024, Maple Lane staff engaged in professional learning with Destine Lord (Anti-Racism Consultant). The goal was to learn tools for teaching students how to treat one another with respect and to value equity, diversity and inclusion. Throughout our session, connections were made with how we can foster a greater sense of belonging in our community.

Our learning was focussed on the following topics:

• Developing common language to use with students
• Learning how to recognize and name the oppression that different groups may encounter
• Resources for teachers and students
