The use of formative assessment by both the teacher and the student makes the student and parents more aware of themselves as a learner and helps them identify where they are in their learning journey and what they need to do to move forward in their development as a learner. Again using a Growth Mindset, they aren't there 'yet' but by focusing on what they need to do to grow they will achieve this with time and effort.

This past September, we invited parents to an information session to learn about formative and summative assessment and how student learning will be showcased in an ongoing way through student portfolios.
